Principal's Message

For the past several years, it has been a true pleasure to support the children and families of the P.S. 149 school community. My name is Yvette Donald, and I am the principal of P.S. 149 - The Danny Kaye Elementary School. I have had the opportunity to spend over 20 wonderful years as a teacher, instructional support staff member and building level administrator. These past educational experiences have provided me with a deep understanding and appreciation of the importance of fostering a culture and climate for children that is based on maximizing students' social, emotional and academic growth. Our staff is student-centered, caring, and dedicated to meeting the unique academic needs of the children in order to promote success for all of our students. The P.S. 149 family is committed to providing each child with the opportunity to learn in a happy environment. Our students, staff and families are what make P.S. 149, The Danny Kaye Elementary School, a very special place. We sincerely believe that home and school is a partnership, and must work closely together for the benefit of our scholars. Each scholar's academic and social emotional success is anchored to the home-school partnership. Therefore, we support respectful communication and collaborations, appropriate involvement in school activities and active participant in the P.S. 149 Parent Teacher Association. It is truly an honor to serve the P.S. 149 family. I know that working together, we can help our scholars Reach Outstanding Achievements and Results (R.O.A.R.)!

Sincerely,
Yvette Donald
